It’s hard to believe that it’s been two decades since the world grieved at the death of the former Princess Diana in a tragic automobile accident in Paris. Few were moved more than her close friend Elton John. The two were noted as close friends and had been seen comforting one another at the funeral of fashion designer Gianni Versace in July and then a few weeks later Elton was forced to mourn Diana and famously performed his classic “Candle in the Wind” originally written as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, but now with lyrics specific to Diana, both of whom died at age 36.
The entertainer posted a photo of the two pals with the caption: “20 years ago today, the world lost an angel.”

No argument here.
Elton opened up about his late friend in the recent docDiana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. “She had that incredible ability — which [Harry] kind of inherited — to make people feel at ease and make them feel that everything’s gonna be all right,” he shared. “I haven’t experienced many people in my life who have that ability, but she could walk into a room of people and make them feel as if everything was great.”
