We Are Flagrant is proud to announce the launch of a greeting card line. Currently available only through Etsy (click link here), the line debuts with Pride month and Father’s Day cards. Additional holiday, thank you, birthday and anniversary cards will be produced and available on the site in the coming weeks.
The sentiments expressed on the cards run the gamut from the salty (“In a world of basic bitches, you stand out from the pack. Happy Pride, princess.” Or “Please wear a mask to protect others… from seeing your busted face. Happy Pride, bitch.”) to the sweet (“Be your extra self every day of the year.” Or “Dad, There’s no one else I’d rather be quarantined with. Happy Father’s Day!”).
Taking inspiration from a wide variety of sources – vintage advertising, contemporary slang, among them, the cards are more akin to the 1980s-era irreverent, punkish brand Paper Moon than the more mainstream, saccharine sentiments of Hallmark or American Greetings.
Greeting cards are the latest creative output for the three-year-old media company. Flagrant Media has produced original web content: short form videos for our YouTube channel, memes – many produced by pop-culture provocateur Sam Kalidi – which have garnered tens of millions of views, feature articles, reviews and interviews posted to the WeAreFlagrant.com site, and engaging posts to our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Currently, Flagrant Media is in production on “The Last Gay Bar in Hollywood.” The feature-length documentary will profile the notorious, legendary queer bar The Spotlight, Los Angeles’ oldest LGBTQ bar until it’s closing in 2011. The dive bar had it’s share of celebrity visitors over the years. Margaret Cho, John Waters, Pet Shop Boys and “The Hollywood Squares” sassy center square, Paul Lynde and many others, dropped in during the bars’ decades-long history.
Flagrant Media is an entirely queer-owned/operated endeavor.
