As the Trump administration continues to chip away at queer and trans rights, and men and women of all persuasions continue to come forward about abuse at the hands of Hollywood power players, we’d like to present to you this clip that is literally just Armie Hammer dancing.
Call Me By Your Name, which opens November 24, is shaping up to be a classic entry in queer cinema and even a potential Oscar contender. Starring Armie Hammer as a 24-year-old doctoral student who falls in love with a 17-year-old (Timothee Chalamet) during a summer in 1980s Italy, Call Me By Your Name has received standing ovations and effusive praise from audiences across the country.
Judging by this clip, the movie will also at one point have a scene in which the main characters dance wordlessly. As seen here, Hammer dances and bobs hypnotically to The Psychedelic Furs’ classic “Love My Way” as Chalamet looks on with admiration before eventually joining in the reverie. Hammer seems to be just slightly out of sync with the music, which means that either the song he danced to while filming the scene was different, or Armie Hammer’s character is a terrible dancer. We’ll choose to believe the former and just stare for a bit at Hammer’s perfectly-shaped hips and Disney prince good looks.
Hammer recently won a Twitter feud with unemployed actor James Woods after Woods accused Call Me By Your Name of featuring an indecent relationship. When Woods referenced a pedophilia advocacy organization in a tweet and added that the film was quietly chipping away “the last barriers of decency,” Hammer responded with a simple question: “Didn’t you date a 19-year-old when you were 60 …?”
Yes, he did. Also, the age of consent in Italy is 14.
Ugh. Let’s just stare at Armie Hammer some more.
