Showtime has greenlit 10 episodes of a cartoon series from Executive Producer Stephen Colbert about President Trump, his family and comrades, which will debut this Fall.
A press release claims the series, “will present the truish adventures of Trump’s confidants and bon vivants – family, top associates, heads of government, golf pros and anyone else straying into his orbit – intrepidly exploring their histories and their psyches, revealing insights into what makes them so definitively Trumpian.” Adding, “it’s a workplace comedy where the office happens to be oval,” and “a character study in search of character, as seen through the eyes of an imaginary documentary crew.”
The as-yet-untitled series is inspired by the animated segment that opened Colbert’s 2016 election night special on Showtime and a recurring character on The Late Show. The series will have a quick turnaround on episodes, aiming to be as timely as possible.
Here’s hoping Colbert and crew can Make America Guffaw Again.
