Andy Cohen, the hardest working man in TV’s laziest format, recently opened the doors of his duplex apartment to Elle Decor, and what’s inside is surprisingly tasteful. Located in the West Village, Cohen recently purchased the unit above his and commissioned architect Gordon Kahn and interior designer Eric Hughes to merge the units into one. In the living room, Paul Smith’s Maharam stripe sofa is beautifully paired with a Ralph Lauren denim love seat in a living room that is filled with stuff, but somehow still feels timely and minimal.
A Hockney painting hangs on the wall in the same room, busy with color and activity, and blends seamlessly with the vintage gold furniture. Cohen uses his personal art collection to add grown-up whimsy lightheartedly colored space. The guest bathroom has a gold mylar wallpaper with a cherry motif and an Andy Warhol silkscreen of Diane von Furstenburg on a silk scarf.
Overall, the apartment is light and happy, much as Cohen’s personality reads on tv, and he loves to entertain in his home with Manhattan staples like Sarah Jessica Parker. Gal pal neighbors Anderson Cooper, and actors Joe Mantello and John Benjamin Hickey drop by regularly for cocktails, and he hosts a holiday party with a guest list of over 90 people.
The place is hip and fun, and most definitely expen$ive. Is this the real reason he took the job at Love Connection? We’re hoping some stories come from this place, like a gay Playboy grotto… but Paul Smith doesn’t really lend itself to sleaze.
