Amandla Stenberg grew up fast. It seems like only yesterday that she was a prepubescent Rue making everyone cry in The Hunger Games, but now, all of a sudden, she’s a grown ass woman coming out on Instagram.
Yesterday, Stenberg, who has also appeared in the YA romance Everything, Everything, came out in a rainbow-rific post on Insta declaring that “Yep, she’s gay” (like Ellen!)
Stenberg will discuss the announcement in an interview with her rumored lady love, musician King Princess, in Wonderland magazine. According to Stenberg, the interview will cover “gay sobbing, first encounters with lesbian masturbation, queer icons, Toni Morrison, and disillusionment as a critical step.” Um, can this lady teach a Queer Studies 101 class? Her curriculum can also include mastery of archery and knowledge of Panem flowering plants.
And while we’re at it, can we get a Hunger Games spin-off in which Rue actually survives, but now she’s the leader of Panem and has forced only straights to participate in the Games? The spin-off can be called The Hetero Games.
We can only imagine the type of damage that Rue would have done if she had been allowed to grow up and become a lesbian sex goddess.
In non-Panem news, however, Stenberg will soon be appearing in the movie The Hate U Give, which is an adaptation of the acclaimed #BlackLivesMatter-themed YA novel of the same name. Until now, The Hate U Give was known as “that film which replaced its lead actor with the ginger from Riverdale because the first actor went on an idiotic racist rant.” But now, blessedly, it will be known as “the movie that features that lesbian sex goddess from The Hunger Games.”
