5 became 1 yesterday when the Spice Girls finally reunited for the first time since 2012 — and this time with Ginger Spice in tow!
Victoria Beckham (Posh), Mel C (Sporty), Mel B (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), and Geri Horner (Ginger) all posed together on Beckham’s Insta feed yesterday so that we could see this wasn’t a fantasy we had concocted in our brains. Additionally, the reunion came amid rumors that Victoria Beckham had requested a clause ensuring she wouldn’t have to sing. However, this rumor hit us by surprise, since we don’t remember her ever singing in the first place!
Thankfully, British tabloid The Sun dutifully reported a play-by-play of the group’s reunion, even going so far as to be on the scene when Baby Spice dramatically walked outside and smiled.
They also noted that a group of staff brought the women lunch at Mel C’s mansion, which is a crucial bit of investigative reporting that informs us the Spice Girls are still rich.
An insider also told The Sun that Posh only called up her four best friends in the world and begged for a reunion after losing $11.9 million through her fashion empire last year. Before her major loss, she was the only member reluctant to participate in a reunion — but now she is gladly welcoming the group’s plans of pursuing TV projects in China, a new TV talent show, high-profile performances, and a compilation album celebrating their greatest hits. Reportedly, each of the Five-Spices will be getting $14 million for their efforts. Ah, recouping millions of dollars … It’s what brings us together!
Also, shouldn’t we be calling them “Spice Women” now? Like, it was weird enough to call them girls when they were in their mid-20s, but now it seems almost patronizing. Maybe we should shoot for a compromise and call them “Spice Not-Just-Girls-Not-Yet-Women.”
