Timothée Chalamet is a meth head! Fret not Call Me By Your Name fanatics, your beloved Timmee hasn’t gone into dark spiral brought on by his sudden incredible success, but will merely play a meth-addicted youngster in a new movie.
The film is titled Beautiful Boy and it’s an adaptation of a pair of memoirs written by a father and son, which according to Deadline chronicle “the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with meth addiction over many years.” The movie will mark the first English-language feature from Academy Award-nominated Belgian director Felix van Groeningen and, sight unseen, is already causing pundits to generate Oscar buzz for stars (and recent nominees) Steve Carrell and Chalamet, as the father and son. The movie is scheduled to open in theaters October 12. Below you can check out the first still, which seems to indicate an emotional scene between the two.
